Letters from
the NSBE Leadership

Welcome to the official website of the National Society of Black Engineers!

Whether you’re a longtime member, a former leader, a curious visitor, a student discovering NSBE for the first time or one of our dedicated Corporate Partners or Sponsors, thank you for being here.

It is my absolute honor to serve as NSBE’s national chair for the 2025–2026 term. As we proudly celebrate 50 years of impact, legacy and innovation, this year’s theme, “Redefining Our Strengths, Crafting a Legacy of Change,” calls us to reflect boldly on who we are, while designing a future that uplifts and transforms generations of Black Engineers and Black technologists to come.

NSBE is more than just an organization; it is a movement. It’s where STEM dreams are built, leadership is nurtured, lifelong networks are formed, and excellence is not the exception but the expectation. With more than 24,000 members spanning collegiate, professional, NSBE Jr. and international communities, our mission remains clear: To increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

To our current members, I say thank you. You are the heartbeat of NSBE, and your passion drives our progress.

Alumni and former members, we see you, we honor you, and we invite you to reconnect, because the NSBE legacy is incomplete without your continued presence and perspective.

Corporate Partners and Sponsors, your belief in our mission makes so much possible. Thank you for investing in the promise and power of Black Engineers.

And to our guests and new visitors, I extend a warm welcome. Whether you’re a student searching for community, a professional seeking purpose or someone simply curious, know that you’ve found a home in NSBE.

As you explore this site, I encourage you to learn more about our programs, our people and the purpose that drives us. The journey ahead is filled with possibility, and we want you to be a part of it.

    With pride, purpose and power,

    Chika Okwor
Redefining Our Strengths, Crafting a Legacy of Change

    Dear NSBE Members,

My passion for this organization and my role serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) keeps me focused on each of you every single day. As the largest Black engineering and STEM community, we continue to make impactful strides in society and industry. It is an honor to work alongside such an incredible, dynamic, and dedicated group of individuals who are committed to advancing the field of engineering and uplifting our communities.

As a thought leader and advocate for social justice, I am passionate about addressing inequality in tech spaces and creating opportunities for others. Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I look forward to collaborating with you all to further NSBE’s mission of increasing the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

    Warm regards,
    Janeen Uzzell
